  Christina Dickerson - Our # 1 Student  Christina Dickerson, a young mother of three year-old twin girls and another two year old daughter is currently the top welding student in our program. Christina has endured homelessness and unemployment as a single mother this summer, but through it all, only missed two days of class while at times having to bring her girl to school with her.  Despite living out of a motel she is determined to leave a legacy for her girls.  Come out and help us celebrate Christina Dickerson and "Women In Welding". We invite individuals to come out and be a blessing to this family. Our hope is to get her into stable housing, provide food, and clothing for her and her girls.

  CTE Welding, Pipefitting, and Electrical Accelerated Program Core Credential and Level 1 Certified Graduates Summer 2022. We are so proud of our students who chose to pursue more than what their environment presented this summer.  They chose to position themselves to overcome crime, violence, and intergenerational poverty, by participating in our CTE workforce certification program.   Returning from the Pandemic into a Suicide Safer Community : embracing growth and transformation in an uncertain world   A workshop hosted by Family Service of Greater Baton Rouge and the National Suicidology Training Center, a program of the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Cente r. As our community moves forward in a new environment post pandemic, many (if not most) of us may recognize we are changed. The impact of the Coronavirus disease and strategies to control it have created an increase in mental health issues among Americans and around the world. Deputy Tullier was one the brave officers who suffered in the 2016 ambush attack on local police that would become one of the contributing factors to the widely-experienced trauma of that year and led ultimately to the formation of our ReCAST BR Coalition. His passing today is mourned and will be remembered.    

We join Mayor-President Broome and all our fellow citizens in Baton Rouge in sadness for the loss of our friend and leader, Joyce M. Plummer, JD. Dr. Plummer's tireless and selfless dedication to her community can be emulated and admired but will never be replaced.
