Virtual Parent Block Party! Oct. 29, 6-7 PM

The goal of the night is to highlight the work that afterschool programs do with our partner schools as a continuation of our Lights on Afterschool celebration.  It is also a chance to share information regarding opportunities in our community.  This hour-long zoom meeting has something for parents and youth alike.  We will be joined by representatives from EBR School District, Healthy BR, LA Workforce Commission, and more.  There will be a special message from our sponsor, Louisiana Healthcare Connections, as well as lots of door prizes and special gifts for attendees.  Please share this flyer with your parents, faculty and staff.  We would love to see everyone there!   As always, thank you for being a great partner of Big Buddy.  We appreciate all you do to enhance and educate our young people.     Registration Link

Day of Dialogue on Race in Education

Please join Humanities Amped on November 13 for three panels and  dialogues  on the critical intersection of  race  and education.  Co-sponsored by  Dialogue  on  Race  Louisiana, Humanities Amped, and Serve Louisiana. Three separate panels will feature local experts in the field of education. Each panel will be followed by  dialogues  with groups of teachers, students, educational leaders, and community members. Choose to attend the full day of panels with opening and closing plenaries or select the panels you wish to attend.  In order for educators and students to attend this event for free, we are asking for a $5 donation from anyone who is able. DEA announces 19th Prescription Drug Take Back Day to be held Oct. 24

(WAFB) - The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is hosting its 19th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday, Oct. 24. The nationwide event gives people safe places to dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired prescription drugs. The DEA says studies show a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from friends and family members, many of which are stolen from home medicine cabinets. This year, collection sites will be following local COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions. “The initiative, now in its tenth year, addresses a vital public safety and public health issue,” said DEA Acting Administrator Timothy Shea. “Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse.Together with our partners, we are not only holding National Pr

In monthly discussion sessions, grandparents and caregivers alike can share their experiences and advice.
