Virtual Parent Block Party! Oct. 29, 6-7 PM

The goal of the night is to highlight the work that afterschool programs do with our partner schools as a continuation of our Lights on Afterschool celebration.  It is also a chance to share information regarding opportunities in our community.  This hour-long zoom meeting has something for parents and youth alike.  We will be joined by representatives from EBR School District, Healthy BR, LA Workforce Commission, and more.  There will be a special message from our sponsor, Louisiana Healthcare Connections, as well as lots of door prizes and special gifts for attendees.  Please share this flyer with your parents, faculty and staff.  We would love to see everyone there!

As always, thank you for being a great partner of Big Buddy.  We appreciate all you do to enhance and educate our young people.

SAMHSA Video Challenge

Since joining the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention last year, I have been inspired by the amazing work our prevention partners are doing to support our young people during this challenging time. What has really stood out to me is not just your continued work and dedication, but the amazing work and dedication of the young people in your programs who have not just stood by during the pandemic, but sought out leadership roles within prevention programs, to bring their unique perspectives, skills and creative ideas to the work of prevention. This year during National Prevention Week (NPW), May 9–15, 2021, SAMHSA wants to highlight the amazing work of these young leaders by asking them to record a short video highlighting their work and motivation to take leadership roles in prevention programs.  See flyer for details.
