An Important Message from Tonja Myles

About 5 years ago my life CHANGED for the better. I knew one day I would have to share this story. In honor of National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, my hope is that we will have conversations about mental illness but also that healing can happen, and suicide does not have to be an option, ever!

Please watch and share.

SAMHSA Video Challenge

Since joining the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention last year, I have been inspired by the amazing work our prevention partners are doing to support our young people during this challenging time. What has really stood out to me is not just your continued work and dedication, but the amazing work and dedication of the young people in your programs who have not just stood by during the pandemic, but sought out leadership roles within prevention programs, to bring their unique perspectives, skills and creative ideas to the work of prevention. This year during National Prevention Week (NPW), May 9–15, 2021, SAMHSA wants to highlight the amazing work of these young leaders by asking them to record a short video highlighting their work and motivation to take leadership roles in prevention programs.  See flyer for details.
