We are now accepting applications for SchoolHouse Connection’s Youth Leadership and Scholarship Program, for students entering college for the first time in the 2021-2022 school year.

[Deadline to apply: October 1, 2020, 11:59 PM PST]

The SHC Youth Leadership and Scholarship Program
  • Awards scholarships to ten youth who have experienced homelessness.
  • Assists youth with financial aid processes, mental health advocacy and referrals, professional legal advocacy and referrals, and assistance in locating and establishing local contacts for general support and services.
  • Builds a stable peer and adult support network for recipients, before, during, and after their college careers, and into their transition into the workforce.
  • Offers young people meaningful opportunities to engage in advocacy, while providing sustained support services to help ensure graduation and success in life.

The Award
  • $2,000 scholarship award
  • A trip to a national awards ceremony (travel and expenses included) 
  • A second trip to reconnect and engage in policy advocacy in Washington, DC, one year after the initial scholarship award (all expenses included).

Who Should Apply?
  • Applicants must have been born on or after Oct. 1, 2000.
  • Applicants must be entering college for the first time during the fall of 2021-2022 school year.
  • This means that the application is for students who will be high school seniors in the fall of 2020; for those who are in GED programs; or for those who plan to take a gap year.
  • Applicants must have experienced homelessness within the last six years.
  • Undocumented students who meet these criteria are eligible.

Professional Training Program Invitation from the Baton Rouge Children's Advocacy Center

  It is with great pleasure that I am reaching out to you about the upcoming Professional Training Program (PTP) for the Baton Rouge community, hosted by the Center for Mind-Body Medicine (CMBM) and the Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center (BRCAC). The Baton Rouge Trauma-Relief and Resiliency-Building Program is the result of many years of grassroots work and the collaboration of many community partners and professional disciplines. Through this collaboration, we are able to provide scholarship opportunities for your organization. Program Requirements and Expectations: This is a two-part training program and full attendance is required for both programs.
